The employers’ guidance service for the Outaouais region

The employers’ guidance service for the Outaouais region

The Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) is implementing concrete measures to guide employers with recruitment and workforce issues.

What is the service’s mission?

The Outaouais Guidance Service is a customized service offered to the region’s employers to help them find a way to access the industry:

  • For Québec workers
  • Whom they already employ or wish to hire
  • Who have experience outside the field of application of the Act Respecting Labour Relations, Vocational Training and Workforce Management in the Construction Industry (Act R-20). They may have developed their experience in construction in another province

The CCQ resources dedicated to this service identify the optimal way for these workers to obtain a worker permit, in compliance with the regulations. They then guide employers in the steps to take, depending on the situation, to have a competency certificate or an exemption issued to their workers.

How to take advantage of the service

Outaouais employers must contact the Guidance Service to specify their need. Different information will be analyzed, including:

  • The workers’ experience obtained outside the field of application of Act R-20
  • The required academic prerequisites
  • Academic training completed outside of Québec
  • The state of the labour pools
