October 16, 2026 – Here is a new update concerning the computer security incident that affected the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ).

By the end of October, we will have informed all individuals who might be concerned by the situation and offered them the free credit monitoring and identity theft protection measures through Equifax. If you have received this protection offer, we would like to remind you that it’s important to activate it.

In fact, to date only 10% of all the people who may be concerned by the situation have activated the protection offered. The process is simple and quick. You can also find all the instructions to follow on ccq.org and in the FAQ.

This protection was initially offered to people with whom we have the most frequent transactions. Since September 29, it has been broadened to include other people, mainly workers with whom we have had transactions in the past and whose social insurance number (SIN) may have been affected by the data theft.

We decided to adopt a cautious approach and to contact all people who may be concerned so that they can benefit from these protective measures – that is, almost 685,000 people.

Most of the people concerned have already received the information necessary, by email or by letter, to take advantage of the free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services offered through Equifax for a two-year period. The final communications are scheduled to be sent in the coming days.

If you think you have been affected by the incident but have not received a letter or email, please contact our Customer Service for more information by calling 1 888 842-8282. A verification may be made to confirm your situation.

We are aware of the inconveniences that this situation may have caused. We are sincerely grateful for your patience and comprehension.
