In May 2025, the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) and its partners introduced the podcast series À coffre ouvert, offering frank and touching discussions with members of Les Intermediaires about dependency and mental health issues.
For Suicide Prevention Week this year, four new episodes of À coffre ouvert have been released, including one dealing exclusively with suicide. The other three themes covered are stress and anxiety, opioids and other medications, and gambling and financial stress.
In addition to the return of Jonathan Roberge as host, a new expert joins the cast for some of the episodes: Dr. Marie-Ève Morin, a family doctor working in dependency and mental health. She tells us about her experiences and her expertise so truthfully and confidently that we are immersed in a reality that must be told.
The eight-episode series is available in audio format on various listening platforms and in video on YouTube. To access the podcasts and learn more about the Réseau d’Intermédiaires, visit www.intermediaires.org.
Who are Les Intermédiaires?
For more than 30 years, Les Intermédiaires have formed a mutual assistance and listening network composed of volunteer workers and employers active across the province to support their peers struggling with dependency or mental health problems.
As of 2025, the construction industry can count on more than 700 Intermédiaires active on construction sites in every region of Québec. They are trained to listen, support, and appropriately direct people experiencing these challenges toward available resources, such as Construire en santé, a MÉDIC Construction health-promotion and -management program.
By providing confidential follow-up to those who have asked for their support, Les Intermédiaires are valuable change agents in their environment. Their presence in the field contributes to early detection of problems and encourages a culture of mutual assistance.
