The Alliance syndicale de la construction, the umbrella organization for the industry’s five unions, has called a strike in the residential sector starting May 28, 2025, at 0:01 a.m.
The Act respecting labour relations, vocational training and workforce management in the construction industry (Act R-20) continues to apply even during a labour dispute in one or more of the industry’s sectors.
When one of the parties exercises its right to hold a strike or a lock-out, in compliance with Act R-20, workers may go on strike or continue to work, and employers may close their sites or continue their activities.
The obligation for workers to hold a competency certificate and for employers to hold a licence issued by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) remains in force.
