Grader Operator Examination
The examination is 3 hours long. It consists of 60 questions and each question is worth 1 point. The required passing grade is 60%. The materials supplied for your use during the examination are: a calculator, a paper sheet, pencil and an eraser. No other material or reference document is allowed during the examination.
Skill Content on Which Questions May Be based
Section 1 - Equipment Operation and Maintenance (30 %)
- Inspecting the grader and reporting defects
- Applying standards and regulations in effect
- Installing accessories and instruments
- Applying machine startup procedures
- Stopping and parking the machine
- Operating the machine
- Using tools and systems to manœuvre the grader
- Maintaining the grader.
Section 2 - Preparatory Work (25 %)
- Identifying the nature of the soils to work on and the terrain configuration
- Delimiting the work area perimeter
- Materials required for the different jobs
- Shaping the surface.
Section 3 - Construction Work and Infrastructure Maintenance (45 %)
- Grading materials according to job requirements
- Description of techniques for shaping the different layers (base and finishing layers)
- Creating road shoulders
- Creating parking lots
- Description of infrastructure maintenance work (scarification, repairs and reshaping).
