Boilermaker Examination

The examination is 3 hours long. It contains 60 questions and each question is worth 1 point. The required passing grade is 60%. The materials for your use during the examination are provided to you. They are: a pencil, a paper sheet, a calculator, a ruler, an eraser and annexes. No other material or reference document is allowed during the examination.

- Installing ducts and equipment
- Installing penstocks, spiral casings, treatment systems:
- Assembling components
- Dismantling penstock reinforcements

Section 3 – Erection and repairs (20%)

Erecting fractionating towers, tanks and silos:
- Assembling sections
- Erecting a fractionating tower
- Putting in place, assembling and welding floor, wall and roof plates
- Squaring the fractionating tower
- Building a door plate
- Installing rafters, centre columns, the roof angle iron and roof plates
Repairing exchangers, elements and equipment:
- Blocked ducts and nozzles
- Taking measurements
- Repairs
- Removing the tube bundle and components
- Cleaning and repairing the tube bundle
- Installing the tube bundle
- Tube and shell leak
- Test

Section 4 – Assembly and demolition (20%)

Assembling boilers:
- Putting in place columns, steel beams and other structural elements of the boiler
Demolishing and disassembling boilers, tanks, towers, elements and equipment:
- Unblocking nozzles
- Determining the weight of equipment and elements
- Dismantling components
- Handling disassembled elements and debris
