Different incentives have been created for workers in the construction industry:

Financial support

Eligible workers may take advantage of financial support offered by the Fonds de formation des salariés de l’industrie de la construction.

Insurance hours reserve

Both training funds deposit hours into the insurance reserve of the person participating in one or more training courses totalling more than 25 hours per week. Thirty hours per week of training taken will automatically be deposited into this reserve. The reserve is used to determine the insurance plan (MÉDIC Construction).

Credit for apprenticeship hours

credit for apprenticeship hours may also be added to the apprenticeship record book of apprentices who pass a training activity.

Program for in-company training of women

Funded entirely by the Fonds de formation des salariés de l’industrie de la construction (FFSIC), this program is an expression of the desire of the partners in the construction industry to support women who have recently entered the industry with apprenticing in their trade or learning their occupation. An agreement between the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) and Emploi-Québec provides for the possibility of additional financial support during a training course.

Human Resources and Skills Development Canada ( HRSDC ) offers the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) and the Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG). These grants are aimed at encouraging apprentices to complete their training and apprenticeship in a trade designated “Red Seal.”
