Official documents recognized by the ccq

Here is the list of official documents recognized by the Commission de la construction du Québec, depending on the particular situation.

When you are applying for a competency certificate or an exemption from holding one, you must provide a photocopy of one of the following valid (unexpired) documents from the following list: When you are taking an examination, you must prove your identity using one official and valid (unexpired) piece of identification with photograph from the following list:

IMPORTANT: To be accepted, the documents listed below must give the following information: your last name, your first name, your date of birth, and your sex.

  • Québec health insurance card or equivalent health insurance card from another province or territory of Canada 
  • Canadian permanent resident card
  • Canadian citizenship card or certificate
  • Name change certificate issued by the Directeur de l’état civil
  • Birth certificate or copy of act of birth issued by the Directeur de l’état civil
  • Birth certificate from another province or territory of Canada 
  • Birth certificate from another country. It must be translated if the document is not in French or English
  • Refugee Protection Claimant Document
  • Canadian passport or passport from another country. It must be translated if the document is not in French or English
  • Driver’s licence from Québec or from another province or territory of Canada. 

Other documents:

IMPORTANT: Photocopies and digital pieces of identification are not accepted.

  • Québec health insurance card or equivalent health insurance card from another province or territory of Canada 
  • Canadian permanent resident card
  • Certificate of Indian status (Indian status card)
  • Canadian citizenship card
  • Canadian passport or passport from another country. It must be translated if the document is not in French or English
  • Québec driver's licence
  • Driver’s licence from Québec or from another province or territory of Canada.
