Each year, the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ), in collaboration with the employer and union associations of the construction industry, contributes to enhancing workers’ knowledge and developing their expertise through the Fiers et compétents program.
Today, the program is releasing and making available the new Répertoire des activités de perfectionnement 2025-2026, which offers more than 600 free training courses for both voluntary and obligatory training.
Complete and enriching training courses
The Fiers et compétents program is:
- A directory of more than 600 free training courses, based in the reality of construction sites, with an emphasis on practice; many of them integrate concepts related to sustainable development and green skills
- Courses offered by the industry’s professionals, whose mandate is to help develop new skills and enhance knowledge
- The learning of work techniques and the discovery of the new material of the future, all at the participants’ pace
The program offers courses for all trades and occupations, whether the learners are apprentices, journeypersons, or work in an occupation.
To avoid getting rusty
To illustrate the importance of participating in upgrading activities, the new advertising campaign for Fiers et compétents, titled Antirouille, encourages workers to avoid getting rusty on construction sites by constantly developing their expertise.
Employers are also invited to take advantage of the CCQ’s on-the-job training service, Service de formation aux entreprises (SFAE), which can develop and organize customized training according to needs, in order to maximize their teams’ expertise and avoid their getting rusty on construction sites.
This amusing campaign, which plays on infomercial codes, is being aired for the first time between August and October 2025, with a relaunch planned for January 2026. It is composed of 30- and 15-second video capsules broadcast on the web, a radio commercial, and printed content including publications in newspapers.
The CCQ would like to acknowledge the participation of the employer and union associations in the decision-making process during production of the campaign, and for their boldness and openness to an advertising campaign with a quirky tone and a strong message.
