Because Canada Post services may be affected starting on May 22, 2025, the Commission de la construction du Québec has decided to apply an exceptional measure and to make the next payment of vacation compensation (or “vacation pay”) in April rather than in June, to ensure that the workers concerned will receive their money before the annual summer holiday.
- Workers registered for direct deposit as of March 23 will receive their vacation pay in their account on April 25.
- Workers who were not registered for direct deposit by March 23 will have their cheque mailed out starting April 25, sent to the address given in their file as of March 21. The cheque will be dated April 25, 2025.
It is important to note that:
- The payment date of vacation pay is determined in the collective agreements and that this measure is exceptional in the current context to guarantee its receipt
- There will not be a payment in June; the next vacation payment is planned for November, as usual
- The advancing of this payment has no impact on the amount sent out, since summer vacation pay is based on hours worked from July to December of the previous year
- There is no impact on the amount of interest paid out
To receive their winter vacation pay directly in their account in November 2025, workers are invited to register now for the direct deposit service through sel.ccq.org. This is the surest way to receive their vacation pay in a timely fashion.
