MÉDIC Construction and COVID-19 – Insurance coverage

In the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) is responding to a high volume of questions from people insured under the MÉDIC Construction insurance plan.

To provide assistance to the industry’s insureds, here are the general guidelines regarding insurance coverage concerning medical emergencies abroad and salary insurance.

MÉDIC Construction does not provide any trip cancellation insurance coverage.

Situation Coverage
Consultation for symptoms (flu or coronavirus) 80% reimbursement of consultation cost, after reimbursement obtained from the RAMQ.
Costs of medications and lab tests are reimbursable, according to the terms set out in the plan held by the insured.
Hospitalization 100% reimbursement for costs related to the medical condition for which the insured was admitted.
Quarantine ordered for a person suffering from COVID-19 but not hospitalized If subsistence costs are generated due to this quarantine, the maximum reimbursable for subsistence costs is CA$100 per day per insured, for a maximum of 7 days and upon presentation of invoices.
Repatriation of the person and his or her dependents  If the medical condition permits, in order to limit costs, the repatriation of the insured or his or her dependents may be organized and costs reimbursed 100%.
If, for medical reasons, the person cannot return to his or her point of departure by the originally planned means of transportation, the cost of repatriation is 100% reimbursable.
