Videos that deconstruct myths regarding women on construction sites

La Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) is launching the fourth publicity phase of its La mixité en chantier campaign with four new short video animations available at mixite.ccq.org.

Video animations to reinforce the importance of changing the way we think

The four most widespread and persistent myths about women in the construction trades are illustrated in a straightforward way in these video animations.

The myths were selected from the list of 10 myths heard most often on construction sites, shown on the Web page mixite.ccq.org. The videos will be hosted on this dedicated Web page and distributed on Facebook in August and September 2019. In addition, mixite.ccq.org now has new statistics from 2018 on how women are fitting in on construction sites.

Deconstructing myths and reinforcing positive messages will make it possible for us to change our thinking and offer a safe and inclusive work environment to women on construction sites.

The place of women in the industry

In 2018, the number of women working on construction sites increased notably, by 18%, reaching the ambitious target of 3,520 female workers. The 904 women who entered the industry raised the proportion of women in construction from 1.91%, in 2017, to 2.13%, in 2018. Finally, 10.4% more employers hired at least one woman last year.
