September 29, 2026 — Today, we would like to provide you with a new update concerning the computer security incident that affected the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ).
We would like to reassure our clients: the resumption of services is taking place securely and our operations have now returned to normal. In addition, the accumulated delays have been caught up.
We are aware of the inconvenience that this situation has caused, and we would like to thank you for your patience and comprehension throughout this period.
Protection is extended to former workers
Following our analysis, we have decided to extend the protection measures to additional individuals. These are mainly workers who have done business with the CCQ over the years and whose social insurance number (SIN) may have been affected by the data theft.
Everyone concerned will be contacted through the contact information that we have so that they can activate the credit monitoring and identity theft protection services offered by Equifax for a two-year period. We have already begun the contact process, and it will continue over coming days and weeks.
We are aware that some contact information may no longer be current. There may therefore be anomalies in our mailing list due to changes of residential address or deaths that were not declared to the CCQ.
Nevertheless, we have chosen to extend the coverage as widely as possible so that anyone who may have been affected by the incident can benefit from the protection measures offered.
The Equifax protection services must be activated.
We would like to remind everyone who received a letter or fax of the importance of activating the credit monitoring and identity theft protection measures offeredfree of charge through Equifax. All the details regarding activation of your protection are in this document. They are also accessible in our FAQ (French only).
Dependents’ personal information
We have no indication that the sensitive personal information of dependents (spouses and dependent children) is significantly affected by this situation.
The next steps
Finally, a police investigation is still underway to shed light on this incident, and our analysis will also continue over the coming weeks.
We are convinced that this incident will enable us to be better equipped to adapt our practices to deal with cyberattacks, which are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
Once again, we would like to thank our clienteles and our partners for their collaboration.
