Difficulties with recruitment are increasing even as construction employers anticipate that activity levels will remain high.

Here are a few highlights of the survey:

  • Employers’ expectations regarding the future growth in construction activity remain positive: 77% of employers surveyed anticipate a volume of work equal to or higher than that of the last 12 months.
  • 59% of employers plan to hire more or just as many employees over the next 12 months.
  • The competency and quality of the workforce, the difficulty with hiring, and an increase in construction costs are the three main obstacles that employers face.
