Establishment of the Guichet orientation construction: A leg up with joining the industry

The Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ), in partnership with the Ministère de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale (MESS), is establishing the Guichet orientation construction. This new service offers practical assistance to people affected by a mass layoff of 50 workers or more that may occur due to the increase in customs tariffs in Québec.

A real response to growing workforce needs

This initiative was developed in a context of economic uncertainty and possible mass job losses at the same time as the order book in the construction industry has reached a historic level and the need for workers is growing.

How does the le Guichet orientation construction work?

Concretely, companies affected by a mass layoff will have to notify the MESS, which will submit the situation to a redeployment assistance committee. When required, the CCQ teams will go to the companies identified by the MESS or will hold virtual meetings to talk about the construction industry and to present paths for access to construction sites.

The CCQ will guide people who have been laid off in their steps to transition toward the construction industry by gathering, for analysis purposes, information regarding their training and relevant work experience.

Personalized communications will then be sent to identify the potential access paths and the prerequisites and to provide guidance with the steps leading to the issuance of a competency certificate. The objective is to offer a solution that puts new candidates in contact with employers.

Anyone who has general questions related to the Guichet orientation construction can contact the CCQ’s Customer Service through the web form Contact us.
