Difficulties with recruitment: a major issue for employers

The results of the survey show that a large majority of employers suffer from the effects of labour scarcity and that difficulties with recruitment represent a major issue. Almost half of the people surveyed also anticipate an increase in volume of work in coming months, which obviously adds pressure to the need for workers.

These difficulties are currently perceived as among the greatest obstacles to companies’ operations. Chief among their effects are turning down contracts, an increase in the employer’s own workload, and delaying contracts.

To face these challenges, most employers choose to put off or stagger certain contracts, and more than a quarter of them offer greater work-schedule flexibility.

Research continues to better document the phenomenon

In coming months, the CCQ will conduct another survey, this one aimed at a better understanding of the factors in retention and in leaving the industry. We will look specifically at workers who have left the industry in order to understand their motivations. The results are expected in early 2020.
