Winter vacation cheques

November 10, 2015

The holiday season is almost upon us, and the construction winter vacation this year will be from December 20, 2015 to January 2, 2016, inclusive.

On November 23, 2015, the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) will mail out 131,751 vacation cheques to construction workers in Québec. A total of $282,552,123 will be distributed throughout the province.

Here is some important information concerning the vacation cheques:

  • The cheque may be deposited starting November 23, 2015.
  • The cheque represents vacation pay accumulated from January to June 2015.
  • An hours statement is enclosed with the cheque.
  • The social insurance number is not given on the statement. It is replaced by the CCQ client number.
  • A change of address made with the CCQ by October 30, 2015 at the latest is considered if it comes into effect by November 22 at the latest. If this is not the case, the employee must make sure that Canada Post forwards his or her mail to the new address.
  • If the employee’s file contains the note “mailing coverage blocked,” the cheque is issued only following correction of the address at the CCQ. In this case, cheques are reissued Mondays and Wednesdays until December 15, 2015. The hours statement is not enclosed with the reissued cheque. The employee concerned must contact the CCQ’s Customer Services to obtain it.
  • Employees who have not received their cheque within 10 days following issuance must contact the CCQ’s Customer Services.
