Review of activity in the construction industry – third quarter 2015

Activity continued to slow in the third quarter of 2015, falling by 5.8% compared to the same period in 2014, for a volume of work of 39.4 million hours covered under Act R-20. The number of workers on construction sites stood at 113,836, a drop of 3.3%. All sectors showed a similar trend, with the industrial sector recording the greatest decline in hours worked (–28%). The civil engineering and roadwork sector fell back by 7.7%, and the residential sector reported 4.3% fewer hours worked than in 2014, whereas the institutional and commercial sector weakened slightly (–0.6%).
