Grader Operator Examination

The examination is 3 hours long. It consists of 56 questions and each question is worth 1 point. The required passing grade is 60%. The materials supplied for your use during the examination are: a calculator, a paper sheet, pencil and an eraser. No other material or reference document is allowed during the examination.

Section 3 - Structural Finishing Work (30%)

  • Operation for counterbalancing the lateral push when cutting in compacted materials
  • Operations to carry out where roads intersect curbs
  • Selecting blade pitch
  • Data provided by a slope meter and electronic blade control system
  • Engine performance rate and speed
  • Structural contamination
  • Segregation of materials
  • Scarification of an area
  • Unloading materials
  • Working procedures near obstacles
  • Operation sequences for carrying out various finishing tasks

Section 4 - Road Maintenance (10%)

  • Maintenance solutions for straight roads and for curves with right or left elevations
  • Corrective measures for a road crown that is too high or nonexistent
