“Cours de connaissance générale de l'industrie de la construction”

Accepted applicants who pass the Cours de connaissance générale de l'industrie de la construction (CCGIC) automatically obtain an occupation competency certificate (OCC) if they demonstrate successful completion of the Santé et sécurité générale sur les chantiers de construction course. For more information about the Santé and sécurité course, applicants may contact ASP Construction or their union association

After candidates pass the CCGIC, the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) will renew the certificate of holders who have subsequently worked 150 hours over a period of 12 months (however, hours must have been reported in the employers’ monthly reports). If the 150-hour minimum has not been reached, the certificate will be renewed only if the holder submits an employment guarantee for 150 hours over a period of no more than three months, from a single employer registered with the CCQ.

Estimated workforce needs for specialized occupational titles in all regions of Quebec

Access to the construction industry in specialized occupational titles is specifically dependent on the needs stated by the industry in annual estimates of workforce requirements.

The annual number of openings available in the CCGIC is determined by the estimated workforce requirements identified by employer and worker representatives in the industry. The number of openings and the eligibility requirements are published in newspapers and on this site once a year. If the number of applications exceeds the estimated requirements, a random draw is held to determine the successful applicants.

Teaching schedule

The CCGIC, which lasts 15 hours, will be held from April to June 2017. Successful applicants will be required to attend on Saturday and Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (two days).

Note that CCQ reserves the right to consolidate registrants from various regions to attain the minimum enrolment for courses to be held.
