Plan d’action à l’égard des personnes handicapées : A positive assessment for 2017

June 1, 2018

Today, the first day of the Semaine québécoise des personnes handicapées, la Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) unveils its 2017 assessment of the Plan d’action à l’égard des personnes handicapées 2017-2018.

The plan is aimed at making the construction industry more inclusive and respectful of the needs of people with disabilities and their families, by targeting:

  • Workers, employers, and retirees in the construction industry
  • The general public seeking information on the industry or the services offered by the CCQ
  • CCQ employees

A positive assessment for 2017

The document offers a positive assessment, as almost 80% of the actions listed in the plan have been achieved or undertaken.

Among its accomplishments, the CCQ has:

  • Created a Web section about its commitments to people with disabilities
  • Evaluated the presence of people with disabilities in the industry, which stands at 2% of the workforce and 1% of employers
  • Assisted 88 people with taking their qualification exam, participating in upgrading activities, and integrating into the industry
  • Improved universal access at the Outaouais regional office
