Erector Mechanic (Glazier) Examination

IMPORTANT: This qualification examination's questions do not take into account the adopted amendments to the new version of the Quebec Construction Code, Chapter 1, Building, and National Building Code that came into force june 15, 2015.

The examination is 3 hours long. It contains 51 questions and each question is worth 1 point. The required passing grade is 60%. The materials for your use during the examination are provided to you. They are: a pencil, a paper sheet, a calculator, a ruler and an eraser. No other material or reference document is allowed during the examination.

Section 2 - Installing and repairing curtain walls, glassworks and aluminum panels (25%)

  • Installing the frame
  • Applying sealing products and glazing tape
  • Installing glass and components
  • Finishing the frame
  • Installing pressure plates and caps
  • Installing firestop joints
  • Installing sealants
  • Installing aluminum panels
  • Checking and repairing curtain walls and aluminum panels

Section 3 - Installing and repairing windows, doors and garage doors (25%)

  • Preparing the opening
  • Installing the frame
  • Installing glass and components
  • Installing hardware
  • Installing insulation and sealing products
  • Installing garage doors
  • Checking and repairing windows, doors and garage doors

Section 4 - Installing and repairing glass panels, showers, glass doors, glass mirrors and related glass products (30%)

  • Installing and repairing glass panels, showers and glass doors: 
    • Installing hardware
    • Installing panes of glass and components  
    • Preparing the location to receive a glass panel
    • Installing glass doors
    • Checking and repairing glass panels, showers and glass doors 

  • Installing mirrors, glass railings, glass guardrails and related glass products:
    • Preparing the location for putting in place mirrors, glass railings, glass guardrails and related glass products 
    • Installing glass mirrors, glass railings and guardrails and related glass product
    • Inspecting the work
