France-Québec Agreement: Mobility across the Atlantic Ocean is now possible for nine construction trades.

On January 13, 2010, new regulations came into effect allowing workers in nine trades to have their competencies recognized for working on the other continent.
“As of today, French people and Québecers qualified in one of nine construction trades – painter, bricklayer-mason, carpenter-joiner, ornamental iron worker, tile setter, heavy equipment operator, shovel operator, roofer, and resilient flooring layer – will be able to apply for recognition of their vocational qualification if they wish to work overseas,” stated Mr. André Ménard, president and CEO of the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ).
The CCQ is responsible for processing applications by people with a diploma from France who wish to have their qualifications recognized in Québec.
For people who have obtained a diploma in Québec and wish to have their qualifications recognized in France, the Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration (OFII) is responsible for processing applications.
