France-Québec Agreement: Mobility across the Atlantic Ocean is now possible for nine construction trades.
On January 13, 2010, new regulations came into effect allowing workers in nine trades to have their competencies recognized for working on the other continent.
“As of today, French people and Québecers qualified in one of nine construction trades – painter, bricklayer-mason, carpenter-joiner, ornamental iron worker, tile setter, heavy equipment operator, shovel operator, roofer, and resilient flooring layer – will be able to apply for recognition of their vocational qualification if they wish to work overseas,” stated Mr. André Ménard, president and CEO of the Commission de la construction du Québec.
